Web Design Trends 2023
Even though web design has certain aspects that will never change, there are elements that many brands, web designers, and developers are implementing to make them new website trends. If you are looking to revamp your website in the upcoming year to stay fresh and relevant.
Web Design Styles
Before jumping into the website design trends of 2023 it is important to understand that all of these new elements and features must be adapted to your branding and not the other way around. What do we mean by this?
Your fonts, colors, images, logos, patterns, and everything else that makes up your brand must be respected. If one of these trends does not match with your style, don’t force it! Instead, think of different ways you can increase brand awareness.
With that being said, let’s take a look at the:
Web Design Trends for 2023
Faster Loading Speeds
With the popularity and accessibility of social media, today’s web users are getting more and more accustomed to shorter loading times. People want fast experiences and with Google’s algorithm punishing slow pages it is a no-brainer that one of the things you should be on the lookout for is having a fast website.
By improving your loading time, Google might increase your ranking which with a right content strategy will ultimately lead to more traffic, conversions, and brand recognition.
The word “storytelling” became popular in the past few years. But, what many brands are doing with written content, could be done much better through illustrations.
Like out of a children’s book, many companies are now using art and design to tell their stories. Besides being more appealing to the eye and attention grabbing, visual storytelling has more emotion, depth, and can help visitors empathize with the brand.
Adding some illustrations to your website is definitely a no-brainer.
To take it a step further, if illustrations are better than words, moving pictures are a thousand times better than still images.
Characters doing things can drive your visitors to take action faster and with less clicks. Also, when customers want to see your service or product there’s no better way to showcase it.
But what about videos?
Unless they are compressed (which will reduce their quality and overall look), videos are pretty heavy and it is better to steer away from using one (unless it is completely necessary). It is definitely better to put looped GIFS on your website as it will not impact loading times.
Great website storytelling mixes animation with interactivity. Click on the image and see what Gucci did to promote their fragrances.
Displaying your Instagram feed is a trending web design tool that can help you:
- Increase brand awareness
- Display user generated content to raise brand credibility
- Drive traffic to your Instagram profile
- Help visitors understand the brand quicker and easier
Customer support has always been the heart and soul of any company, and the age of internet and online shopping is no exception. That’s why many websites are opting to add Artificial Intelligence on their website as chatbots that help customers and visitors find the information they are looking for.
Quick, draw is a great example of how AI can create unique experiences that engage with people.
For some people there isn’t a better way to fight insomnia than to browse the internet on their smartphones. But white backgrounds or bright images make looking at a screen at night uncomfortable as it strains the eyes.
Dark mode is a “different version” of your website that reduces the use of bright colors on backgrounds and images. At Bexi we believe this will be one of the top trends for website design in 2023 as many websites are slowly but surely integrating dark mode into their UX options.
VR / AR
Another great use of technology to create a unique user experience is implementing virtual reality or augmented reality in your website. This is particularly the case for real estate, in which you can take property tours through the screen of your phone, the car industry, and apparel.
Can you imagine? Letting your potential customers try out different outfits using only the lens of a camera.
Like we said above, fonts are part of a brand’s guidelines and thus should be respected. Nonetheless, many web designers started to experiment with stylized fonts that integrate seamlessly with the website.
If you are feeling adventurous, you can try to substitute certain fonts with more stylized typography that does not confuse the viewers.
Our thoughts on web trends…
Following trends can be beneficial if it’s not done excessively. Before jumping into the bandwagon, think of your visitors, potential customers, and overall brand identity. Maybe all of these suggestions are not right for you and implementing them might hurt your business as it may come across as dishonest, different, or downright nonsensical.
What do you think about these trends? Have you seen them applied in the websites you visit regularly? Let us know, we’d love to hear from you!
